Zia Shlaimoun - Tech Visionary and Former CEO of Atto Electric

An innovator and technologist, Zia Shlaimoun is the former CEO of Atto Electric. He ran the Enfield, UK-based company for 17 years, developing energy-saving solutions for manufacturing companies. Zia Shlaimoun patented an innovative solution for reducing power consumption in electric motors, built products around it, and sold it to large companies globally. He later licensed the technology to a large drives manufacturer and exited the business.

Before Atto Electric, Mr. Shlaimoun was a technical director at Jilutech Systems, also based in the UK. He was founder and co-owner of the company, which distributed personal computers and add-on products. He grew the business from a startup in 1989 to an established company with millions of dollars in sales before exiting in 1992. Earlier in his career, Zia Shlaimoun worked as a research and development engineer at IBM Hursley. There, he developed new technologies and products. He also went on to be lead engineer in several projects.

Mr. Shlaimoun has developed and patented several technologies. He won The European BIC Innovator of the Year Award in 2006 and the Barclay Bank Commercial Innovation Award a year later. He was also elected a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts for his work on reducing carbon emissions. He holds a Bachelors of Science in Computers and Communication Systems from the University of Greenwich.
